Greenville, N.C. (February 7, 2024) – Hyster company announced the introduction of BIOMatics System to its electric forklift lineup. BIOMatics will not be available on IC forklifts for a few more years.

BIOMatics is a natural evolution of HYSTER’s TELEMATICS which currently monitors utilization, diagnostics, impact detection, proficiency, and GPS location. New to BIOMatics is operator’s vital signs monitoring and alerts operator of possible incidents. The system, claimed to use AI technology to recognize patterns, does not store user data.
BIOMatics uses a heart monitor strap, similar to what is used in the sports industry and smart safety glasses that measure the pupils and monitor body temperature behind the ear.
In a statement Chris Collins, EVP Engineering Services, said that with the aging mean age of industrial truck operators, cardiovascular incidents are a leading cause for workplace incidents. Hyster is committed to being at the forefront of innovation in the material handling space. Workplace incident related to cardiovascular incidents have increased 186% in the past three years.
According to Brett Wilmot, Director Regional Sales, for Nort America interest has been positive and expect fleet operators to include the option on new equipment purchase. The new feature is expected to add between $1950 to $5850 per unit sold depending on features.
In a press release John Johnson CEO Hyster North America said this to be a a natural evolution for the material handing industry and believe that in addition improving workplace safety this will save lives.
